"Putting Your Money Where Your Mouth is 2.0"

Hosted by Harvard School of Dental Medicine on October 31–November 1, 2016, the 2016 Forum focused on connecting oral health to overall health and wellness to achieve better patient outcomes and lower costs.

Presentations and panel discussions looked at medical-dental integration from all angles — its effect on health in the workplace, in a clinical setting and as a public policy issue. Faculty from Harvard School of Dental Medicine, Harvard Medical School, and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health presented a vision for “An Integrated Practice of the Future” and academic studies that make the case for integration.

A highlight was the keynote “What Integrating Oral Health and Medicine Means to Business and Employers” delivered by Marleece Barber, MD, MSPH, Chief Medical Officer, Lockheed/Martin. Barber provided insights into the cost of inaction.

2014 Leadership Forum

"Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is: The Economic Imperative of Oral Health"

The Harvard School of Dental Medicine hosted its sixth Leadership Forum in October 2014 with the theme: “Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is: The Economic Imperative of Oral Health.” The event brought together leaders outside the dental community—insurers, business leaders, economists, and public health experts—to explore the costly impact of poor oral health care on overall health especially chronic disease.

The vision to form the Harvard Initiative to Integrate Oral Health and Medicine was realized at this forum. The Initiative members are healthcare, academic and businss leaders who are dedicated to improving patient care by advancing the integration of dentistry and medicine in education, research and delivery systems.
